Two-hinged arch

An arch that is hinged at the abutments only. Its shape alters with changes of temperature, inducing bending effects in the arch rib. In those conditions it is a redundant structure , no longer statically determinate. There is no bending effect at the abutments. For this kind of structure to be statically determinate one end would need to be free to move horizontally.
